Big wins for belt drive in the 2025 season!

Congratulations to Oli Clark of MS Racing for taking 1st in the Junior Men’s DH at the UCI World Cup in Leogang, Austria (May 30–June 1) aboard a belted Zerode This marks a historic milestone as a belt drive bike reaches to the top of UCI DH podium.

And a huge shoutout to Hattie Harnden with the support of Aon Racing - Tourne Campervans, who powered her belted Nicolai G1 GPI bike to a podium finish in the UCI Enduro World Cup in France. Across several brutal stages over two days, riders faced nearly 20 kilometers of demanding terrain, with a total descent of 3,169, plus punishing climbs that tested every ounce of strength, precision, and reliability.

Neither result triggers the 100K belted purse, but both prove one thing loud and clear: Gates Belt Drive is proving its performance at the highest level of competition, on the gnarliest terrain, across every discipline, and every inch of the mountain.

Elite riders. Elite performance. Belted and unstoppable.

Taylor Vernon is the first rider in focus. Vernon's career has seen some high moments, such as a successful junior career, national wins, and a podium at Redbull Hardline, but it's also seen some low moments, such as a horror crash that threatened to derail it entirely.

    • Ep. 4 - Why More Downhill Race Teams Are Switching to Belt Drives in 2025

      Jan 15, 2025

With the lure of not only a superior sprung-to-unsprung mass ratio but also the chance of winning the €100K bounty, more teams and riders than ever before will be using a belt drive in 2025. With fewer teams and racers overall in a reduced field size, the chance of somebody claiming the prize is only getting higher.

This year, Gates will partner with Aon on Gamux frames, Atherton Racing, MS-Racing & Intense Factory Racing.
